When people used to walk

In 1918, in Gatillepis Street with the espadrille maker’s bench in front of the shop, the apprentices, and the entire espadrille lineage. At this time people used to learn a trade, making espadrilles was the future and especially with a good master! Click to enlarge image. Hopefully trades are back.

In 1918 with the founder, the present owner’s great grandparents and grandmother (Teresa Marimont) on the right. Better click on the image. The lineage that has provided footwear for most of Catalan people… even for Dalí!

1928, in Gatillepis street, Florenci Mauné, in white jumper, the present owner’s father. The shop must have been refurbished and adapted to the "new times". Click on the image.

We said that people used to walk…. and there was plenty of work. This photograph was taken in the "Prison of Sant Ferran Castle in Figueres". Prisoners learnt the trade. Click to get a better image.
